Peter, I got a feedback from Dan. You were right it looks like Dan do smudges to reboot the DAC occasionally despite that it does in run-time recalibration: "I would recommend turning the power off for a minute or more, at least every few month. That...
Sorry for being so nasty, Romy, but I meant connecting the CEC TLO with the Lavry 924 via the dCS 974.
I do not see you being nasty, where did you get this from?
May I ask you- what you proposed to drive CEC TLO into dCS ...

Did I tell you that Pacific Microsonics DAC is a phenomenal 16-bit DAC? I did not lie and it is very good. Look however what the updated Lavry 924++ did with it.
They are very short and small (6Meg) files, mono, 88/24 with a few seconds of opening o...

Romy Hi, I just mean that instruments sound more real, through the Stahl-tek whether is is the decay of a high hat or the weight of a piano, 'presence' is the same I guess when the instrment just sounds more real, re the selling part I have been look...

Romy have you given much thought to the fact that over the last year or so, this forum has become more about you ,than music reproduction, re the dac ,surely you must know when something is better, do I have to wrap it up in flowery language? ...

Oliver/Romy have either of you heard the HRx discs produced by 'reference recordings' yet? ( or the berkeley audio design Alpha dac ), I don't sell them Romy ! ...

I don't know Jessie, but I also have listened to the files several times and I stand on my comments. The file DAC 1 is the one that I find more "loose" with more room defining bass, and DAC2 the one with some sort of better harmonic definition. The o...

I remember there was a guy in Chicago (Chig?) who covered Bidat to battery power – I juts do not remember already what was his comments. Chig, if you still around then say Meow.
I personally do not believe in buttery powered DAC like Bidat (IDAT). B...

Rowuk, we do not disagree about the "battery/dynamics" equation. As you know, the "accepted notion" from the pundits is that "battery phono stages lack dynamics", and the one expensive unit I've heard did seem lethargic, albeit in a "salon". Howeve...

Before announcing Lavry complete failure against Bidat when Lavry was driven by a CD transport I have to make a very important comment: in my case the transport was not a regular transport but the CEC-TL0, a know son of a digital bitch.
I know quit...

Well, I admit that I was clueless on the subject but I was intrigued and I consulted my engineering recourses. It turned out that what I proposed above was not exactly accurate: for instance regular computers do not use I2S bas interface…
Paul S,Seems most of Lampizator models has "R2R Ladder" as a option now, as used to be on the Level 6: http://lampizator.eu/Fikus/PRODUCTS.html
I've heard better sound from R-2R converters than Delta Sigma. Audio-GD Master...
why don’t not you try my 6E5P?
I didn't want to steal any of your ideas. Although, admittedly it was my backup plan. No question the 6ep5 makes for a superb driver tube. Had not really looked into who has s...
Buy the identical CD multiple times but each from a different country (mastered in USA / Germany / Netherlands / Great Britain / Australia ....) and normally they all sound different (not always but very often)
Yes, they...
Romy Quit being so diplomatic and tell us what you really think..... Incidentally, I tried the Meitner Ma-1 . It is a great dac in many ways but I think it still needs more software development as it sound quite differ...

What about a digital buffer: a device that takes any digital stream, from whatever cheap, village source you feed it, stores enough to reclock it properly, and then feeds it out to the DAC of your choice? Since even the cheapest reading devices offer...
For the record, and wide talking, the LampizatOr sound is on the same boat of Audio Note (UK).
Ear dac4 is not so transparent and it's volume control should be removed in my idea.I guess Audionote is good but it's sound is...

My understanding of all this is rather limited. In my experience, much as I would like and occasionally do appreciate about the convenience of computer based server, the simple cd/dac interface is the most reliable and provides the best quality soun...

Oh, you were feeding the Lavry into the Bidat! I understood you were doing the full game feeding your computer. LOL my former comment was not applicable in that scenario.... really stupid hahaha.Romy, I'd like to know a couple of things about the Lav...

Rom's Hi I have been looking for something to play my CD's on, something that will make them sound more like vinyl ( whatever you want to call it, heart ,guts life ) the AMR is very well built ,looks good ,has some nice touches, sounds 'natural' but ...

I bet Yamamura is using non-causal filtering... this is all running off a music server, so could process everything offline. This makes it possible to do forward-backward filtering - you run the filtered signal "backwards" through the original filter...
Romy if you have the oppurtunity , try to hear the new dac by Mike Stahl, the Stahl-Tek 'Vekian' in my system it has greater resolution, weight and presence than the Lavry and MSB platinum which were my favourite dacs until now, r...

For what it is worth, I have found the Lavry DA-11 to be very susceptible to the noise level of the USB input and so may not be the best DAC to try with a computer, where the noise is a function of too many variables. Of course, if other material is ...

I did not have time to read the articles carefully, but:"The IDAT’s D/A conversion stage is also unique.""In the IDAT, two DACs per channel are used for each half of the balanced data signal instead of one."...the very idea of balancing DAC's is not ...
